LUIGI ONTANI. ALAM JIWA & VANITAS

For the first time, the GAM (Modern Art Gallery) of Torino devotes its space called Wunderkammer to the exhibition of contemporary works, and perhaps no artist other than Luigi Ontani has been able to give back to that name its numerous original meanings. Ontani (Vergato, 1943) has created numerous Chambers of Wonders around him, starting from the end of the Sixties when he composed his Stanza delle Similitudini. Throughout his life he has redesigned, in the tiniest decorative details, the space of his various studios and homes: he made his works into a pervasive proliferation of symbols and forms with which to give life to a microcosm imbued with his image.
